Teachers, tutors and trainers in the learning and skills sector can benefit enormously from opportunities to increase their knowledge and vocational expertise through work-based placements. In turn this offers considerable benefits to the performance of your FE organisation and to what your learners can achieve.

The Catalyst programme

Lifelong Learning UK is the independent, employer-led Sector Skills Council responsible for the professional development of everyone working in the learning and skills sector.

Business Interchange is part of the Catalyst programme, delivered by Lifelong Learning UK. The three year Catalyst programme was launched in 2007 in support of the 2006 White Paper ‘Raising Skills, Improving Life Chances’.

It aimed to support work based learning providers, adult and community learning organisations and FE colleges to continue to build the necessary skills to deliver exceptional teaching and training, backed by world-class leadership.

In 2007 we established four programmes to deliver on this aim: Make a Difference, Pass on Your Skills, Business Interchange and Business Talent.

Together these programmes have provided tools and services to help further education employers of all sizes strengthen their workforce - from the largest city colleges to community learning centres and private training companies.
